Effortless brow transformation with Microblading
Sick of the endless struggle to achieve the perfect brows every morning? Yes, we all want natural-looking thick brows these days, now that we have left the overplucked 90s brows way behind!
Imagine waking up every morning to perfectly shaped thick eyebrows - that’s the beauty of microblading!
This technique is a game-changer for women, transforming how we approach brow enhancement. Unlike the typical brow pencils and gels, microblading takes it up a notch. It helps you achieve the naturally thick and full eyebrows look that regular beauty products can only dream of achieving.
But before you take the plunge into this beauty trend, let's dive into all the burning questions, from 'what is it?' to 'is it for me?'.
What is Microblading
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that enhances eyebrow form and definition.
Unlike traditional tattoos, microblading uses a manual handheld tool with fine needles to deposit pigment into the epidermis, resulting in lifelike and realistic hair strokes.
How is it different from traditional tattoo
You must be wondering “Isn’t this a hair tattoo?”
To answer your question, microblading is a surface-level technique, generally affecting only the outer layers of the skin, in contrast to tattoos that penetrate deeper into the dermal layer.
Moreover, the pigments used in microblading are designed to gradually fade.
Why Microblading
Time-Saving Beauty: In today's fast-paced world, spending your mornings perfecting your brows is a luxury. Microblading provides a time-saving solution, giving you naturally gorgeous brows from the moment you wake up.
Tailored to You: Each microblading session is tailored to your specific face features, resulting in a unique result that matches your own style and enhances your natural attractiveness.
Who is it for
Apart from people who lead busy lives and find it inconvenient to apply make-up, this cosmetic technique is also ideal for people battling hair loss diseases like alopecia, or people with scarring or irregularities in the brow area.
Though microblading is an innovative solution, it may not be right for everyone. Due to hormonal fluctuations, pregnant or lactating women should avoid microblading. Also, individuals with specific medical conditions, blood-clotting disorders/diseases, or a history of allergic reactions to pigments or other cosmetic products should exercise caution.
The Process
Consultation: The first step in the microblading process is always a consultation with a trained and experienced professional. During this initial meeting, your consultant will assess your natural brow shape and discuss your desired results. They will also go over any possible contraindications and potential risks associated with the procedure. It's crucial to be honest about any allergies or previous cosmetic procedures you've had on your eyebrows.
Procedure: Following the initial consultation, the process involves mapping and designing the brows to ensure a balanced and symmetrical outcome. To alleviate any potential discomfort, a numbing cream is applied during the procedure. The technique employs a manual handheld tool featuring fine needles to delicately deposit pigments into the upper layers of the skin, crafting lifelike hair strokes.
Post Procedure: Generally, microblading aftercare lasts from 7 to 14 days. The microblading healing process lasts 4-6 weeks, during which strokes may appear darker but fade to a natural shade.
The results typically last 6 months to 1 year, depending on factors like skin type and lifestyle. Regular touch-ups are recommended for maintaining flawless brows.
The result? Fine, hair-like strokes that give the appearance of real brow hairs! These brows look effortlessly stunning and well-defined.
After Care
Microblading, like any beauty treatment, demands proper after-care for the pigment to set and maintain vibrancy.
Here are the basic rules of microblading aftercare (7-14 days):
- Wash your face gently and be especially careful around the eyebrow area. Don’t rub your brows.
- Only use the products/ointments prescribed by your microblading artist. Don’t use skincare products on your own, because they may contain ingredients such as exfoliants and acids, which can affect the pigment.
- Let the scabs fall off naturally. Don’t pick them because you can rip some pigment off and that is hard to fix.
- Don’t sleep on your face and use a clean pillowcase.
- Don’t wear makeup for at least 10 days. You may be tempted to wear makeup on the rest of your face avoiding the treated area, but artists advise against it, since the makeup and removal products can come in contact with the tender area when you remove the makeup.
- Avoid sweating, saunas, swimming in the ocean and pools.
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning.
Common myths about Microblading
Despite its growing popularity, there have been numerous misconceptions and myths surrounding microblading.
- Microblading is painful: Despite common fears of pain, most microblading clients report minimal discomfort. Numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure for relief.
- Microblading results won’t look natural: Contrary to the belief that microbladed brows look unnatural, a skilled artist enhances your natural features. By considering face shape, skin tone, and hair color, the artist creates customized brow strokes for a completely natural appearance.
- Microblading results are permanent: The pigment in microblading is placed closer to the skin’s surface than a tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and disappear in a natural-looking way. Our skin has a turnover rate of 28 days - every 28 days, old skin cells break down and are replaced with healthy new ones. With this renewal cycle, microblading pigment fades.
- Microblading stops natural hair growth: Microblading doesn't directly affect hair growth because it doesn't target the hair follicles. It neither causes hair loss or hair fall, nor encourages hair growth.
Risks of Microblading
Microblading presents a certain degree of risk beyond the aesthetic result.
- Infection: There is a small risk of infection with cosmetic skin procedures. Low-standard ink usage is a common cause of infections since low-quality inks contain nickel, mercury, iron oxide, and other damaging components.
- Allergic Reactions: In rare cases, some individuals may have an allergic reaction to the pigments used in microblading.
- Scarring: Microblading is a skin procedure that penetrates the skin and hence, makes the skin prone to scar formation or scabbing. With touch-ups over time, the repeated procedures may also result in scarring.
Not ready to take the Microblading leap?
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for microblading. It does not give ideal results on extremely oily skin with large pores. Also, some people aren’t allowed to get a cosmetic procedure due to some health conditions. Or you may not want to undergo such an invasive procedure and are looking for a long-lasting solution for fuller, more defined brows.
